FireText is extremely happy to announce that we have a new addition to our Customer Support team, Alannah Blount. We have taken the opportunity to quiz Alannah and who better to share it with than the customers she will be chatting to!
Why do you want to work for FireText?
“The reason I wanted to work at FireText, is because I love marketing, I find it a really interesting area of business and I feel that nowadays the way we are contacting our customers is changing. There has been a shift from door to door and email marketing to entering the digital age where social media and SMS are at the forefront. I wanted to be a part of it, and FireText seemed like the perfect place, with its friendly team, great atmosphere and awesome marketing experience and opportunities!”
What led you to be interested in Marketing?
“Through my A-levels, I had loved studying Graphic Design and Business, when it came to choosing the topic for my degree, it was a tough pick between the two, however, I opted for business. I started studying Business Management, for my undergraduate degree at Plymouth University and within this, I studied a range of business-related topics and although I specialised in Human Resources, the marketing topics still stood out to me as being the most interesting. Progressing from this to my Masters, I wanted to be able to combine my love for art and Graphic Design, with the knowledge that I had secured around business and more specifically marketing. As such I studied a masters in Brand and Design Management which explored the way brands are created, how they attract customers and the importance of understanding an organisation’s culture – it was the perfect blend for my creativity and interest in marketing.”
What interests you most about the position?
“Being able to contact customers all the time. I didn’t want to sit in an office Job where it was just me, not engaging with customers. This role has and is allowing me to build relationships and improve my communication skills while also developing my marketing knowledge in a range of industries as we deal with a vast variety of different businesses.”
To date what is your proudest achievement?
“I have two proudest achievements in life. In my first year of Uni, I trekked Kilimanjaro for 5 days for the Meningitis Research Foundation and I raised £3333. Then this year in 2019, at the University of Plymouth, students award, I was highly commended for the fundraiser of the year after organising a charity Football Alumni Tournament and raised £4500 for Teenage Cancer Trust.”
What are your greatest strengths?
“I would say that my biggest strengths are being organised, which helps with everything I do on a day to day basis. I also am good at adapting to my surroundings, meaning I can work well in a team, but also step up and become a good leader. When I set myself a goal I feel I will always go above and beyond to ensure I achieve it.”
What do you like to do outside of work?
“I enjoy playing football and living an active lifestyle. I will always take the opportunity to take part in any water sports especially Sailing. I always like to be working towards something, that can make a positive impact, hence the charity fundraisers I would organise. I’m a sociable person and enjoy spending time with Friends and Family”
Where is your favourite place?
“It would have to be the Gower Peninsula in Wales, it is where I was raised. The most beautiful place without a doubt is Pobbles Beach, the sunsets are unparalleled and its the perfect place for a beach BBQ with friends and family.”
Alannah is on hand to help with any questions or queries, so if you were looking to get up and running with FireText, or wanted to chat through your active account then please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
